Major Companies Sponsorship Guide
Which large Canadian employers actually have a track record of hiring internationally? This guide breaks down LMIA activity by major company, sector, and province — based on ESDC TFWP data 2024Q1–2025Q3.
How to read this guide
We looked at employers with 50+ total LMIA positions approved across the 2024Q1–2025Q3 period. 'Consistency' refers to the number of quarters they appeared in (out of 7). Higher consistency = more reliable sponsorship history.

Large employers with NO LMIA history
Some major Canadian employers rely on IMP (LMIA-exempt) pathways instead — particularly for intra-company transfers (ICT) and certain trade agreements. If you don't see an employer in the LMIA database, it doesn't mean they don't hire internationally — they may use LMIA-exempt work permits.
How to verify current intent
Past LMIA history is a strong signal, but employers change hiring policies. Before applying, confirm: (1) Does the job posting mention sponsorship? (2) Does the HR team confirm they will initiate LMIA? (3) Is the role in a LMIA-eligible NOC code? Never assume sponsorship without confirmation.
