It's your rank in the pool
Canada's Express Entry system scores every applicant. The higher your CRS, the earlier you receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency.
IRCC draws from the top
Every few weeks, IRCC invites the highest-scoring candidates. The minimum score accepted in that round is called the "cutoff." Anyone below the cutoff waits for the next draw.
Cutoffs are not fixed
The cutoff shifts up or down based on pool size, IRCC targets, and which stream (all programs / CEC / French) is drawn. Historical trends help you understand the range — not predict the future.

0 – 1,200 points (600 without PNP nomination)

481 – 545 (Mar 2023 – Jan 2025 general draws)
French draws
Recent range ~370–390 (separate category)
